Free Roam: Explore the Titanic Without Story Objectives
Short answer: Free Roam Mode lets you walk the ship without following the story, investigation or survival sequence. It was added in Patch 1.0.2 on Aug 31, 2026.
What Free Roam actually is
The official Patch 1.0.2 notes introduce it as "one of the most requested features from the community" - a way to explore the Titanic without the main story path, investigation objectives or survival sequence. The developers call it the first version of the feature and say it will keep improving. It is a separate mode, not something you unlock inside the story.
One caveat from the official thread: some areas that open during the story stay locked in Free Roam. A player flagged the lower decks, and the developer replied that they would try to add more access in the next patch. Free Roam is a walk through the ship, not a second campaign.
What Patch 1.0.5 changed
- Added a day and night cycle to Free Roam.
- Restored missing walls, floors, ceilings and furnishings around the third-class forward and aft stairs.
- Improved clearance walking up and down the aft stairs.
- Fixed NPC clothing, hats and facial hair following animations incorrectly.
- Reduced the risk of a crash when loading Free Roam.
The known Free Roam bug - and its fix
Early on, entering Free Roam and then returning to the main menu could make the story's Continue option disappear - players reported being unable to resume. The developers fixed this in Patch 1.0.4 (Sep 3, 2026). If your game is updated, the mode no longer risks your story progress. Full details are on the save and continue page.
